Meeting Title:
Challenges and Innovations in Aging Well

Meeting Description:
This presentation will help us gain an understanding of the demographics of the population we serve. In California alone, the number of residents over 65 years old will increase 59 percent over the next 15 years and those over 85 years old will increase 52 percent. How we care for older adults is one of the most important challenges and opportunities we're facing as a society. Our presenter Tom Bollum, Executive Director, Live Well at Home by Eskaton, will discuss some of the biggest challenges in aging today—from demographic shifts with baby boomers entering retirement, technology in the home, cost of care, care coordination to the workforce shortage.

Tom Bollum has over 40 years’ experience leading organizations in financial services, insurance, sales and senior care. His background includes being a credit union CEO and founding AnyTime Access, a venture-capital backed company, based in Sacramento with 225 employees that became part of Intuit. Tom and his wife, Jennifer, transitioned into senior care over 10 years ago opening two home care agencies in the Sacramento market. Tom & Jennifer successfully sold these home care agencies and took the opportunity five years ago to build Eskaton’s home care division, Live Well at Home by Eskaton. Live Well currently has over 260 caregivers providing non-medical home care throughout Greater Sacramento and Placer markets as well as Stockton and the San Mateo/ Peninsula. Eskaton is a Northern California focused nonprofit organization serving older adults since 1968.
