Title of Meeting:
MENTAL CAPACITY, COMPETENCY AND UNDUE INFLUENCE: SUBJECTIVE AND OBJECTIVE ASSESSMENT

Description of the meeting:
Dr. Roeder will discuss the history and current status of the law in the areas of mental capacity and competency, including relevant areas of the Civil Code, with case examples illustrating these foundational principles. Attendees who participate will have a hands-on experience with the Mini-Mental Status Examination, the Cognitive Competency Test, and the Dementia Rating Scale, including a live administration of these clinical instruments. Dr. Roeder will provide sample actual reports and share his experiences communicating capacity assessment results with the courts and with families, again using case examples.
